Emmy Rossum: Sentimental Journey Album Review

Who knew that Emmy Rossum was so multi-talented!? I didn't know she could sing until I was given the opportunity to review her album, Sentimental Journey.  Since receiving the album, I've been listening to it every day in the car on my way to work and back home. Even my kids love some of her songs. I had no idea, Emmy’s album is a rendition of classic songs, she brings her stellar voice to songs popularized by some of the most beloved artists of the last century.

Sentimental Journey, released on January 29th, is a collection of classic covers that takes us through the American Songbook.

Each song was perfectly picked for the 12 months of the year. The track that stood out to me the most is Sentimental Journey. It just lays out the mood for the rest of the album. It’s also mine and my son’s favorite song. Not sure how to explain it, but there’s just something about Emmy’s voice that just grabs your attention.

"Each song needed to either lyrically or emotionally reflect the corresponding month," Emmy explained. "Some songs were obvious fits, like Summer Wind for June, and Pretty Paper for December. Others songs were less literal fits. I chose Nobody Knows You (When You're Down and Out) for September because, to me, the plaintive melody and lyric emotionally reflect the cold weather creeping in and the sense of melancholy we can get in the fall months. “

Ready for a sneak peek? Grab some wine and kick back and catch a glimpse of her album by listening to her song, “These Foolish Things (Remind Me Of You)” Music Video on YouTube.

Send her a Tweet (Emmy on Twitter) and I betcha she will reply.  She retweeted my tweet about listening to her album, which I thought was awesome. [See RT here]
